I can't believe that Bertha Hogswater is Sheryl Crow's real name! I wonder if she would be as successful as she is now had she stuck with her birth name. I know it’s a rather awkward identifier (so I can see why she changed it) but I guess I would just feel guilty changing my name to “fit in” and gain celebrity status – especially if my original name was passed on from a great-grandmother and represented my only link to native American culture, as in Sheryl’s case.
